Poems
Secrets of Tomato
I.
Who savors an heirloom
Knows to genuflect
to pleasure
Of nature, of human hand.
Knows just a pinch,
Is just enough
Talk or vindication.
II.
The kitchen table sleeps in snatches,
Wakes if elbows grace its lip.
A table that knows too many fists
Is cheered if blanketed by sounds
Of different ages, cheered when covered
By spring onions and bread and salt.
